Thank you very much for your wonderful videos. The 4th video in Greatest Games series was a real eye opener for me, I started to use influence more often in my games after seeing it. I’ve just purchased the 05-09 videos, can’t wait until the download link arrives
Keep up the good work, and thank you again! You make very complicated things easy to understand, bravo!
Hey. If you’re still planning on uploading new videos (you seem to have missed February sadly) could you make one of a game that features the 1 space high pincer to the 4-4 point low approach. I haven’t been able to find very much information about this opening.
As a beginning player, I can’t rave enough about your project. It’s evident that you take pride in your work. Even the website is snazzy!
In short: the whole thing is the brass ring.
Hi, also greetings from Germany.
I really appreciate your site and so i wrote many times on this page. Thanks to your help i was able to get a Kifu of a game between Fujisawa Shuko and Kato Masao^^ It was awesome. I HAVE to say here that your friendly attitude and your efforts in this site are great. PLEASE continue
Also i liked this game explanation about Sakata Eio (I ‘m starting to look for this player now!) His passing is sad, its like a star is dissapeared from the Go Sky, but well good work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for uploading these! It has really helped me, because while everyone says “this move is the best move, play here,” this has been the first site I have found that really shows why it’s the best move and plays it out. I find this really helps me remember the proper moves as well as the sequences!
I’ve been looking for a good Go commentary site ever since watching Hikaru no Go (Go anime) and this has definitely been the most informative even for an absolute novice like myself. Even the stuff that is over my head has helped me intuitively notice important situations in the game even if I don’t know what the right move is. Thanks, and I hope you keep it up as long as you are passionate about teaching!
Your commentary on Huang Longshi’s territorial influence game is quite wonderful! Please could you do more such videos, especially of the other great Chinese players like Guo Bailing, Fan Xiping and Shi Dingan (and of course Huang Longshi). It is very difficult to get information on these great masters from China, who (I believe) are a much better source of inspiration than many of the Japanese masters because of their tremendous fighting styles.
But in the meantime, congratulations on one of the best Go sites around!
This is an absolute gem of a website. Have been watching some of your Greatest Game series, and they’re just brilliant examples of the depth and brilliance of go. Also, very good explanations, especially your descriptions of why alternative variations are inferior. Keep up the good work, if you ever charge for this site you have a subscriber right here, although extra kudos for making it free.
Fantastic videos – you are an excellent teacher. I especially like the ‘failure’ variations you show to explain why the correct moves are correct. Your analysis reveals more of the beauty and depth of Go. Thanks for your generosity.
I just wanted to say thank you for all of your videos, especially your how to punish overplay series. Learning how to punish in ways like this slowly adds up and creates a strong player. Im glad your videos are aimed at single digit kyu’s as well as low dans.
Hi, first of all thank you for your work.
I hope you will continue this way because you have a lot of fans out there
I enjoy your videos and every time when i visit your site and see that you have a new video I’m really happy^^
May i ask you a question?
I heard from a game of japanese professionals and you also mentioned this game as a memory for Fujisawa Shuko!!
-The game between Fujisawa Shuko and Kato Masao!
If I remember correctly it was avictory for Shuko, but it was exciting because kato masao made an interesting invasion…I never saw this game and i can not find it anywhere…Do you have the psooibility or the time to help out?
I would be really grateful
I really enjoy your videos. I would like to know if it is possible to create video to explain how to lead a tutor game? To lead someone to play better than he/she used to? (without kibitzing).
I think it’s difficult to generalize about that. Players are individually different. It would be better for you to play according to his/her characteristics.
Thank you for your weiqi videos. They are very informative and well thought out. I love the 10 minute go series as well as the greatest games. I also like how sometimes you have a little go history in the videos. I am always excited about your new videos I look forward to them every time you post a new one!
this is a great resource, as a 20kyu (approximately) new player, the “greatest games” go over my head, but I think I can see glimpses of brilliance and beauty in them. The 10 minutes go videos I think will help my playing at the next local go club meeting here in the Harrisburg, PA, USA area. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.
Love your videos, thank you for taking the time to make these videos. My favourite part is 10min Go E6 [3:20]:
“if black play 三三, white will tenuki then attack. These two… will be tragic.”
